Nuhaa

My name is Nuhaa, 23 years old and a student of University for Development Studies offering BSc Community Nutrition. I live in Accra with my parents and siblings. My hobbies are listening to music, reading and watching movies. Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disorder that affects more than just your joints and it occurs when your immune system mistakenly attacks your own body tissues.

My journey with Rheumatoid arthritis started when I was in Senior High School. Before I was diagnosed, I noticed signs of joint pain, swelling, and fatigue. I went to the hospital and I was treated for malaria and fever for more than two months so I was given an exeat to go home. After several trips to hospitals, I was finally transferred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital where I run a lot of laboratory tests and x-rays and was finally diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis.

Initially, I was scared because I didn't understand a lot of things like how and why that was happening to me but when I got to know more about my condition, I just took it in good faith and said to myself that I will be strong for myself. I do take my drugs and pray to God for his healing. My greatest fear was that I could not continue with my education but God being so good I am achieving what I want to be in future.

My family and friends have been very supportive from day one till now; not forgetting my wonderful Rheusolute family (the support group). I thank you for the amazing support.

Rheumatoid arthritis does not define my life. I have full control of my condition which makes me have a happy life.
